Eligibility Criteria for JEE
- Candidates of GE and OBC categories must have been completed 17 years at the time of admission and is an Indian National.
- The upper age limit for JEE (Advanced) is 25 years for GE and OBC categories and this upper age limit shall be relaxed by a period of 5 years for SC, ST and PD categories.
- In addition to JEE score, the qualifying examination will be Class-XII from any National/State or’Approved’ International Board.
- For NITs, IIITsorCFTIs, normalized marks of XII board will be considered and eligibility to be same as earlier, which is minimum 60% marks in PCM in XII.
- For I ITs, the student must be in Top 20 percentile of their Class-XII boards.
- Marks of 5 subjects will be considered: Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, lLanguage, 5th Optional subject like ED, Comp. Sc. etc.
- Those appearing in 10+2 final or equivalent examination may also appear in JEE (Main) in the following year provisionally.
- However, admission criteria in the concerned Institution / University will be followed as prescribed by the concerned University/Institution and as per the guidelines & criteria prescribed by the AICTE.
- The aspirants for NITs, IIITs, CFTIs, NTs and ISM, Dhanbad must ensure their eligibility foradmission into NITs, 11 ITs, CFTIs, IITsand ISM, Dhanbad.

- Maximum number of attempts a candidate can avail at JEE (Main) shall be three and for JEE (Advanced), twice in
uniformly in consecutive years.
State Code of Eligibility means the Code of the State from where a candidate has passed (+2) examination by virtue
of which he/she becomes eligible to appear in the JEE (Main) for admission to B.E/ B.Tech and B.Arch/ B. Planning
Courses of the institutions/ Colleges of the States/UT. The list of state code of eligibility is given on JEE (Main) website
www.jeemain-edu.in.
Test Pattern of JEE
The admission to the undergraduate programmes at the JEE - Advanced (for IITs & ISMU-Dhanbad) and JEE -
Main (for NITs & IIITs) is based on a two-tier test. The first test is called the JEE (Main), shall be held during the month of
April (both offline and online) conducted by CBSE/MHRD. The second test, JEE (Advanced) shall be held on June (only off
line) conducted by the IITs/JEE body.
Exam Structure of JEE (Main):
The JEE (Main) will be of one test of 3 hours for B.E./ B. Tech & one test for B. Arch/ B. Planning aspirants. Paper contains
MCQ type questions. Incorrect answers will be awarded % negative mark. Maximum mark of paper is 360. Mode of the
test is both offline and online for Paper-land only offline for Paper-2.

Exam Structure of JEE (Advanced) 2015:
It consists of two tests (Paper-1 & Paper-2) of 3 hours each. Each paper consists of Physics, Chemistry & Mathematics;
MCQ type questions with negative marking in some sections. Question papers will be in both English and Hindi.

According to the latest pattern, JEE is conducted for the admission to Undergraduate Engineering Programs at NITs, IIITs
and other CFTIs. This is a two - phase exam, the first phase JEE (Main) is designed almost on previous AIEEE Pattern.
The second phase conducts JEE (Advanced), which is based on the eligibility criteria set by the IITs. This phase is meant
for the serious candidates, who aspire to enter the most sought after premier institutions like IITs. JEE (Advanced) is
conducted in same lines with that of IIT-JEE.
The trend of questions in both the papers of JEE-2014 is given below.

Candidates Qualified in JEE (Advanced)-2014:
Of 1.5 lakh students, who appeared for JEE (Advanced) for admission into IITs and some other centrally funded institutes
(CFTIs), 21,110 students were qualified for 9885 seats across these institutions. Of 21,110 qualified students, 14,336
students were called for counseling starting from 24" June, 2014.
A candidate needs to score a minimum of 10% marks in each section of the two papers of the exam and 35% as
aggregate. Not all who qualify get a berth at these institutes but, a part of the extended merit list get a chance for
admissions only when the top scorers drop off the list.

The procedure that will be used for calculating the JEE (Advanced) 2014 Cutoff Ranks and Marks is as follows:
- Only the candidates, who have attempted both the papers, will be considered for cutoff calculation.
- The aggregate marks of the candidate will be the sum of the marks obtained by him/her in both-Paper land Paper 2.
There will be separate merit lists for the candidates of NCL - OBC, ST and SC. JEE (Advanced) 2014 Cutoff Marks for them are as follows:
- NCL-OBC: 9% in each subject and 31.5% aggregate.
- SC and ST: 5% in each subject and 17.5% aggregate.
Merit Lists for Physically Disabled Candidates: PD Candidates of OBC (NCL), ST, GEN and SC categories will have a separate merit list. JEE (Advanced) 2014
Cutoff for these candidates will be 5% in each subject and 17.5% in aggregate.
Merit list for Preparatory Course: If the number of candidates in the merit lists of SC/ST/PD is less than 1.4 times the number of seats in every category, separate
merit lists for the Preparatory Course will be prepared. The JEE (Advanced) 2014 Cutoff for this list will be 2.5% in each subject and 8.75% in aggregate.
